About Small Screen
Published by the Australian Council on Children and the Media, small screen is a unique monthly review of the latest events, press clippings, new and proposed legislation changes, seminars and conferences, publications, and research into the effects of films, television, video games and new media on children – it identifies problem areas and highlights positive developments.
Dear Readers – We wish to inform you that our monthly small screen newsletter is on hiatus while we address some internal organisational changes.
small screen has been published continuously since 1986 and we hope to be back to producing this much-valued publication soon.
A NEW LOOK: since September 2022, small screen has undergone significant change.
- For many years it was a print publication distributed by email.
- It’s now an online publication, with a new look and content.
This was made possible by an Impact grant from the Churchill Trust of Australia, awarded to Barbara Biggins OAM (a long time Churchill Fellow) who edited small screen from 1986 to 2025.
Subscriptions are free to individuals and organisations (Libraries $77 a year incl. GST). See form on the Home page.
